How Tax-Free Shopping Works
Spend at least HUF 68,001 (~EUR 175) in our participating stores, travel home within 90 days of your purchase – it's that simple. Take the products and the original receipt with you, have the Global Blue Tax-Free Form stamped at customs, and claim back the VAT on the purchased products!

STEP 1
Shop at stores participating in the program. Request your Tax-Free form at the cash register upon shopping and fill it out after your purchase. Don't forget to keep all receipts and forms you receive.

CLAIM
STEP 2
When leaving the EU, you will need a customs stamp. To obtain this, visit the customs office at your point of departure. Present your completed Tax-Free form, the original receipt(s), the purchased goods in their original packaging, and your passport.
At Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (Budapest Airport - BUD), there are two customs points:
- Before security checks - Terminal 2B, near the Check-in gates. Choose this if your purchases go in checked luggage.
- After security checks - Towards gates B. Choose this if your purchases stay in your carry-on.
REFUND
STEP 3
At the airport, you can claim your VAT refund at Interchange by presenting your customs-cleared and stamped Tax-Free forms. Look for them in SkyCourt, to the right of Heinemann by the escalators or after security checks in the direction of gates B.
If you are not continuing your journey by plane, visit any Global Blue office in the city center. If Hungary is not your last stop in the European Union (further travels between EU countries), you must complete customs at your final EU departure airport and leave within 90 days of purchase.
Where do I get my refund?
After receiving the customs stamp, you can get your refund:
- In cash or by card at any Global Blue Refund Office or at Interchange once at the BUD Airport.
- Via the Global Blue app, online.
- By post: Mail your stamped forms to Global Blue and receive your refund on your card within approx. 3 weeks.
